Navigation of the Lock
Approaches. You will be at low tide. The buoyage starts offshore where it is still quite shallow. Once lined up in the approach channel do no stray to the east. There is a training wall, rarely seen above water but would be a substantial obstruction. The channel is used by commercial traffic and 3 times a day by the ferry service. Ferries turn off the waiting pontoons to the north of the locks.
Due in at 15:00, 21:30 and 06:45. Out around 16:30 and 23:00. Three years previous the 15:00 incoming ferry on 5th June was met by a fly past of Hercules aircraft as the ferry had veterans on board.
The Ferry ramp is to starboard as you enter. Watch for propellor wash from the Ferry.
Entrance to lock from Sea.
For the time being input from the sea to the marina add 30 minutes to these times.
